ARDMORE, Okla. - The Baylor women's golf team shot a final-round of 310 for a three-day total of 938 to finish 14th at the NCAA Central Regional Saturday at the 6,289-yard, par-72 The Traditions Club.
Junior Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) finished with a 79 to lead the Bears in a tie for 44th at 232. Rehnholm shot 74 in the first round and 79 in the second. Junior Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) tied for 55th after a final-round 78. Martin shot 84 in the first round, followed by an outstanding 73 for a total of 235.
Senior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) posted her best round of the tournament with a 76 and tied for 64th at 238. She shot an 85 in the first round, before rebounding with a 77 in the second. Junior Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) also had her best round with a 79 to tie for 74th at 241. Summers shot back-to-back rounds of 81 to start the tournament.
Senior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) finished 84th, shooting a 77 in the final round. She opened with a 79, followed by an 89.
Southern California claimed the regional title with a total of 883, two strokes ahead of Duke (885). Pepperdine (903), Florida (910), Oklahoma State (916), Texas A&M and Kent State (919) and Nebraska (922) each advanced as well. USC's Irene Cho was the individual champion at 214, claiming a four-stroke win over Duke's Amanda Blumenherst.
The Bears did not advance to the NCAA Championships as they did not finish among the top eight.
