WACO, Texas - The No. 6 Baylor men's tennis team defeated No. 60 Southern Methodist University in a 5-2 match Saturday night at the Baylor Tennis Center in the first home match in over a month.

The match started off close between the two teams with the doubles point coming down to the last match on the courts. Jon Rekewey and Matt Brown took the first doubles march defeating Federico Murgier and Henrik Soderberg 8-4. SMU answered with a win by Alex Skrypko and David Kuczer over Baylor's Matija Zgaga and David Galic.

The No. 49 ranked tandem of Lars Poerschke and Michal Kokta brought it home for the Bears defeating Peter Oredsson and Oivind Alver in a tie-breaker match 9-8(7).

With the doubles point under their belt, Baylor picked up speed in singles. No. 120 Matt Brown quickly downed SMU's Kuczer in the six spot 6-1, 6-1 and No. 59 Kokta followed closely with a win over Soderberg 6-1, 6-1 on court four.

No.12 Poerschke finished the job for the Bears defeating Skrypko 6-1, 6-3 to clench the match. Will Ward picked up the other win for the Bears downing Murgier 6-3, 7-6.

Zgaga and Portnov were the only Bears to come up short with No. 31 Zgaga falling to Oredsson 6-4, 6-4 and No.92 Portnov to Alver 6-0, 7-6.
