AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team fired the second-lowest round of the day with a 309 to finish 10th Sunday at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the 6,323-yard, par-72 University of Texas Golf Course.
Senior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) and junior Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) each tied for 29th at 237 to lead the Bears. Jones finished with a 76 after shooting 76 in the first round and 85 in the second. Martin was impressive in the final round with a 74, following rounds of 80 and 83.
Senior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) tied for 42nd with 241, bookending rounds of 79 around an 83. Sophomore Sian Reddick (Folkestone, England) finished 77th coming off her back injury, shooting 255 (82-89-84).
Junior Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) did not place after withdrawing from the first round. She shot 80 on Sunday after a 76 on Saturday. Junior Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) competed individually and tied for 55th at 244 (83-80-81).
Duke claimed the team title at 907, nine strokes ahead of Texas A&M at 916. Purdue, Oklahoma State and TCU rounded out the top five. Duke's Amanda Blumenherst fired 218 to claim a six-stroke victory over Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll.
The Bears return to action April 3-4 at the Northwestern Invitational at the Westin Mission Hills Resort near Palm Springs, Calif.
