The formerly top 10 women's tennis team dropped six spots this week in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) polls as the Bears now sit at No. 16. Baylor was ranked as high as No. 8 this spring and has bounced around the top 15 throughout the weeks until today.
In individual rankings, sophomore Zuzana Zemenova climbed from her former No. 17 ranking to No. 12. Zemenova is 5-3 this spring in dual matches, 1-0 in the Big 12, and has an overall record of 11-3, which includes fall tournaments. Against ranked opponents, the defending NCAA singles champion is 5-3.
Also ranked individually is junior Zuzana Cerna who fell from No. 9 to No. 16 this week. Cerna has earned a 6-1 record this spring. Overall, Cerna is 23-6 and 10-6 against ranked players. Junior Klara Zrustova made her ITA rankings premiere this week when she earned the No. 88 spot with her 5-2 dual match record and 1-0 conference record. Zrustova's overall record is 23-6, and against ranked opponents she is 1-3. Finally, senior Daniela Covello is ranked No. 97, though previously ranked No. 80. Covello is 5-3 this spring in dual matches and 1-0 in the Big 12. Overall Covello is 15-10 while she is 2-3 against ranked opponents.
The Bears were scheduled to host TCU this evening but due to inclement weather conditions, the match has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
