WACO, Texas - Forward Bernice Mosby led the way with a double-double in her first career game in a Baylor uniform, leading the way with 15 points and 14 rebounds as the No. 19 Lady Bears cruised to a 84-47 win over North Texas in the opening round of the Preseason Women's NIT at the Ferrell Center on Friday night.
With the victory, Baylor improves to 1-0 on the season and advances to face Hofstra, a 79-72 winner over Wichita State, in the second round of the Preseason WNIT on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2:00 p.m.
Mosby led the way as Baylor turned a tenuous one-point lead with 6:18 left in the first half into a 35-24 advantage at the break as the Lady Bears grabbed control of the game.
The Lady Bears erased any idea of a North Texas comeback by outscoring the Mean Green 32-6 over the first 11 minutes of the second half to take a 67-30 lead.
Three Baylor players scored in double figures as freshman Danielle Wilson scored 14 points while Rachel Allison poured in 10 points to help lead the Lady Bears to victory.
Wilson added five blocks in the win while Baylor swatted 12 shots on the night while holding North Texas to just 26.2 percent (17-of-65) from the field.
Whitney Jones led the way with three steals as Baylor held a decided 36-4 edge in points of turnovers.
