Nov. 10, 2006

WACO, Texas - Baylor's equestrian team travels to College Station, Texas, Sun., Nov. 12, for its final fall show. The Bears ride against Texas A&M in the conference rival's first head-to-head this season. Both English and Western disciplines will be featured Sunday and events start at noon in the Aggies' at N.W. `Dick' Freeman Arena.

Baylor and Texas A&M have met before in tournament style shows but never in an official head-to-head show. In previous meetings, the Aggies have defeated the Bears three times in tournament action. Texas A&M posted a 717.5-699 victory at Georgia's Big Eight show in 2005 while later that season the English Aggies defeated Baylor's English riders at Nationals, 735-692.

For the English events, Jill Anthony, Beth Banister, Nicole Brown, Kelsey Ehlers, Susie Foster, Kat Hartson, Heather Healy, Analisa Muti, Mary Smitson, April Wehle, Shelby White, and Cara Wilson are traveling to compete in the official and exhibitions rides.

For the Western events, Ashleigh Brown, Missy Gonzalez, Amanda Graber, Kim Marlowe, Nicole McCoy, Madelyn Mooney, Allison Orosz, Valtie Riddle, and Lindsey Tomko are competing.

Baylor is 3-2 overall and 2-1 this year in head-to-head shows going into Sunday's event. The Bears' last show was an 11-9 win against Oklahoma State, who had previously defeated the Bears 17-7 a week before. High-point riders for Baylor were N. Brown (85) over Fences, Wilson (94) and White (94) on Flat, and Tomko (73.5) in Horsemanship. Brown and Graber earned Fences and Horsemanship MVP honors, respectively.

The Aggies enter Sunday's show coming off of a 1-16 tie-breaker loss to Oklahoma State. With the points tied, the officials went to raw scores to determine a winner. After the lowest score for each team in each discipline was dropped, the Cowgirls edged Texas A&M 2329 to 2317.5. The Aggies are 2-1 overall (note that one victory was against SMU who features only an English team) and 0-1 in conference.

Results for the show will be available at BaylorBears.com Sunday after completion of all the events.
