LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. - After winning three matches in the prequalifying draw of the Laguna Niguel Futures tennis tournament in Laguna Niguel, Calif., Baylor junior Lars Poerschke will begin competition in the tournament's main draw on Wednesday.

En route to the main draw, Poerschke posted straight-set wins over Richard Johnson (USA) 6-1, 6-0, Brad Pomeroy (USA) 6-2, 6-0 and former University of Texas player Pete Stroer 6-3, 7-5.

In the first round of the 32-player main draw, Poerschke will take on former Illinois All-American Ryler DeHeart. The two have met just once previously, Poerschke posted a 6-1, 6-2 win in the semifinals of last year's ITA All-American Championships.
