WACO, Texas - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason women's singles and doubles rankings include a record-setting four individuals and one doubles team from Baylor women's tennis program. The Bears, who have never posted so many ranked players at once, have two individuals and the one doubles team listed in the top 50.
Sophomore Zuzana Zemenova, who finished last year with a 29-5 record and the NCAA singles title, is ranked seventh, which is Baylor's highest individual ranking ever. Her No. 14 final spot last year was Baylor's second highest ranking behind Jahnavi Parekh's No. 13 posted in 2000. Other individuals earning spots are junior Carolin Walter who ranked next at No. 29 while juniors Klara Zrustova and Zuzana Cerna ranked at No. 101 and 122, respectively.
In the doubles rankings, the team of Daniela Covello, a senior, and Walter landed the 26th spot.
Baylor women's tennis opens its season by hosting the Baylor Invitational, September 16-18 at the Baylor Tennis Center.
