WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team travels to Franklin, Tenn. to play in the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate Friday through Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 2. The tournament is hosted by Vanderbilt and will be played on the Ironhorse course at the Legends Golf Club. The course is a lengthy 7,200-yard, par 72, and will play host to a competitive 12-team field.
The tournament consists of a competitive 12-team field that includes Baylor, Belmont, College of Charleston, Furman, Kansas, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Rice, SMU, Virginia and host Vanderbilt.
The format of the tournament will be a first round Friday, followed by a second round Saturday and a final round Sunday Oct. 2nd.
The Bears will travel with Senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas), who led the team with a 10th place finish at the Willliam H. Tucker two weeks ago. Baca currently leads the team with a 71.67 stroke average for the fall. Junior Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood,Texas), is also making the trip after being listed at No. 14 on Golfweek's Top 100 Returnees for 2005-06. Alcorn brings with him a 73.67 stroke average for the fall after an impressive sophomore campaign that landed him multiple victories.
The Bears will also be traveling with a little extra advantage this week. Sophomore Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.), will be bringing his 74.00 stroke average with him to go along with his local knowledge of the course. Junior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas), brings in a 74.00 average as well and will be traveling along with junior Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas), who will be making his fall debut for the Bears.
Results will be posted at the conclusion of play each day.
