Men's Golfers Qualify for U.S. Amateur

WACO, Texas - Baylor senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) and redshirt freshman Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) won their U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifiers Tuesday and will move on to the U.S. Amateur Championship the week Baylor is scheduled to begin classes.

Baca shot an opening-round 67 followed by a 73 to win by one stroke with a total of 140 at the South Course of Houston's BlackHorse Golf Club. Allcorn, playing at Lantana Golf Club in Lantana, Texas, shot rounds of 68 and 70 to post a seven-shot victory with a total of 138.

Juniors Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) and Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) will compete in the qualifier Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 1-2, at Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio.

This year's U.S. Amateur Championship will be held Aug. 22-28 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.
