WACO, Texas - For the first time in program history two Baylor women's tennis players have advanced to the round of 32 in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships. Freshman Zuzana Zemenova and sophomore Carolin Walter each won round of 64 matches to advance in the tournament at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Ga.

Zemenova, nursing tender ankle which she rolled in Baylor's round of 16 match against Florida, posted a straight sets win over Tennessee's Sabita Maharaj, 7-6 (6), 6-4. Zemenova, ranked No. 23, got off to a 4-2 first set lead over the 42nd-ranked Maharaj, but the Georgia player evened the score at 4-4. The two matched each other game for game before Zemenova won the first set tiebreaker 8-6. Zemenova will take on North Carolina's Aniela Mojzis who advanced to the round of 32 when two-time NCAA Champion Amber Liu of Stanford retired due to an injury. The Zemenova/Mojzis match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. (CDT)

Walter, playing in the NCAA Championships for the second straight year, moved on the the next round with a three-set victory over 27th-ranked Natalie Frazier of Georgia. Walter, ranked No. 55, lost a first set tiebreaker 7-3. The Baylor sophomore then rebounded to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-3. Walter advances to play the tournament's No. 3 seed Audra Cohen, a freshman from Northwestern. Cohen defeated Washington's Dea Sumantri in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. The Walter/Cohen match will begin at 9 a.m. (CDT).

Doubles action begins on Tuesday. Baylor's lone team, Daniela Covello and Zuzana Zemenova will take on the tournament's top-seeded duo of Caroline Basu and Shadisha Robinson of Georgia at 12:30 p.m. (CDT).
