The Baylor men's golf team will compete in the NCAA Central Regional hosted by Notre Dame Thursday through Saturday at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. The Bears are making their eighth straight regional appearance and are looking for their first trip to the NCAA Championships since 2002.
Baylor is led by All-Big 12 sophomore Jeremy Alcorn, who ranks among the top five in the region. Alcorn currently carries a 71.67 stroke average, just off the school record mark of 71.61 set by All-American Aaron Pellegrom during the 1999-2000 season. Sophomore Chase Thomas is coming off an All-Big 12 Tournament Team performance, tying for eighth to lead the Bears last time out at the Big 12 Championships.
The Bears finished seventh two weeks ago at the Big 12 Championships and join eight other conference teams in the NCAA Central Regional field. The top 10 teams and two individuals advance to compete in the NCAA Championships June 1-4 at Caves Valley Golf Course in Baltimore, Md.
