Box Score

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Baylor pitchers issued 11 walks and Texas State scored five unearned runs to upset the 10th-ranked Bears 12-0 Tuesday night at Bobcat Field. The loss snapped a season-long seven-game winning streak for Baylor (15-8), while Texas State (17-8) posted its fourth straight win.

The wildness for Baylor pitchers began with starter Sean Walker, who issued a career-high seven free passes in 3.2 innings. Walker (1-3) only allowed two hits, but coupled with the walks and three Baylor errors he was touched for six runs, two earned, with five strikeouts.

Texas State made use of a Walker's erratic control in the second. After a pair of walks and a Walker wild pitch, Dawid Bednarek singled over a leaping Kevin Russo to score both runners.

The Bobcats scored four unearned runs on just one hit in the bottom of the fourth. Baylor made three errors in the inning, and Walker issued three walks; all four runs were unearned. The only hit in the inning was a two-run, check swing double off the bat of Luke Cannon that sneaked inside the chalk down the third-base line.

Texas State tacked on five more runs on three hits, two walks and a Baylor error in the seventh. A double and two groundouts led to another run in the eighth.

Meanwhile, Bobcat pitchers kept Baylor's bats quiet all night. Josh Ford ripped a single into left field with two outs in the top of the first. The Bears did not get another hit until a two-out Kevin Sevigny double in the eighth.

Texas State starter Scott Moore (4-0), normally the Bobcats' closer, earned the victory after allowing only one hit in 5.0 shutout innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Baylor returns to action this weekend, traveling to Stillwater, Okla., for a three-game Big 12 Conference series at Oklahoma State. The Bears and the Cowboys meet Friday at 7 p.m. CST followed by 2 p.m. games Saturday and Sunday.
