Waco, Texas - After a difficult loss less than 24 hours earlier, the Baylor women's tennis team quickly recovered at the Baylor Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Bears lost only two sets on the day.
In doubles play, Baylor women won all three matches to take the doubles point. Baylor's duo of Caroline Korsawe and Zuzana Krchnakova quickly defeated Kansas State's Maria Rosenberg and Tamar Kvaratskhelia, 8-2. Then, the rest of the Lady Bears promptly followed suit, taking matches at 8-4 and 8-2.
Led by Daniela Covello and Iva Mihaylova in singles, the Lady Bears swiftly took a 3-0 lead. Covello and Mihaylova defeated the Wildcats' Judith Diaz and Tereza Prochazkova: both by scores of 6-0, 6-2. Baylor then clinched the win on court one when Zuzana Zemenova defeated Kansas State's Maria Rosenberg 6-2, 6-2. Zuzana Krchnakova and Zuzana Cerna also posted wins on the day.
Baylor's only loss on the day came on a match tie-breaker between Baylor's Carolin Walter and Kansas State's Tamar Kvaratskhelia. Walter won the first match 6-1, but fell in the next two, losing 7-5 and 13-11 in the tie-breaker.
The win gives Baylor eleven wins out of their last twelve, and it makes them 10-1 at home this season.
Baylor will next host Missouri on Saturday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center.
