WACO, Texas- - Baylor's No. 16 women's tennis team travels to No.38 Nebraska to start conference play Thursday, March 3. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at the Woods Tennis center in Lincoln, Neb.
Coming on the heels of the highest ranking ever, the Lady netters embark on conference play at the top of their game. The Bears head into conference action with a 6-2 record and currently hold a five match winning streak.
The Bears have played a tough schedule so far facing seven ranked teams, including three in the top-20. The Bears are 5-2 against ranked teams including wins over then No.7 Clemson and then No.14 TCU.
The Bears also have several individually ranked players. Two Bears hold rankings in the top 60 in the nation. Carolin Walter is the highest ranking Lady Bear at No. 51. Zuzana Zemenova is also ranked coming in at No. 57. The doubles team of Daniela Covello and Zuzana Cerna are ranked at No. 29.
Nebraska has also faced a tough a schedule and heads into Thursday's match with an 11-1 record going 2-1 in the Big 12. The Husker's Gitte Ostermann is the highest ranking player on the team and holds the No. 18 spot in the national rankings. The doubles team of Osterman and Katie Garcia make-up the No. 23 ranking.
