NAPLES, Fla. - The Baylor men's golf team got off to a great start shooting 5-under par with an opening-round 287 followed by a 284 to lead after day one of the Lexus Naples Invitational Monday at the 6,879-yard, par-71 Hammock Bay Golf and Country Club.
Sophomore Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) leads the Bears and is tied for fourth at 1-under par. Alcorn opened with a 72, followed by a 69. No other Baylor scores were available, since only the top five individual leaders for the tournament were reported.
The Bears (571) lead by two strokes over St. Mary's (573), three over Portland (574, six over Illinois (577) and seven over Wisconsin (578).
The event is hosted by PGA Tour professional Peter Jacobsen's sports marketing and event management firm Peter Jacobsen Productions, Inc. The tournament concludes with the third and final round Tuesday.
