The Baylor men's golf team completed day one at the Roadrunner Intercollegiate Monday with a score of 571 and sit in a tie for first place. The Bears share the lead with Wichita State after the first two rounds at the 6,691-yard par 71 Oak Hills Country Club.
Sophomore Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) is currently tied for second after finishing the first two rounds at 2-under-par 140, firing a career low six-under par 65 in the opening round. Alcorn is looking to capture his second individual victory of his career and currently sits only two shots off the lead.
Sophomore transfer Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas), making his debut with the Baylor golf team shot an impressive second round 69 (72-69=141) and is currently tied for sixth place. Sophomore Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) fired an opening round 69 and is tied for 18th (69-76=145), while freshman Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) is tied for 25th at 146 (72-74). Another transfer, sophomore Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas) began his career with the Bears by shooting rounds of 74 and 75 and is sitting in a tie for 37th at 149.
New Mexico States Danny Bowen is currently alone at the top of the leader board after shooting a four-under par 138 through the first two rounds of play.
The tournament concludes with the third and final round Tuesday.
