COLUMBUS, Ohio - With an impressive run through the first two rounds of the ITA's National Indoor Championships, Zuzana Cerna, ranked 122nd by ITA, advanced to the quarterfinals at the Racquet Club of Columbus. She fell in her third match to the tournament's eighth seed, a nationally ranked Theresa Logar from Stanford.

Before falling to Logar, Cerna upset TCU's Nicole Leimbach, the tournament's top seed, 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 16. Leimbach is also nationally ranked third by the ITA. "Zuzana played very solid and executed the game plan perfectly," commented assistant coach Rebekah Rhodes

Cerna's final scores against Logar in the quarterfinals were 6-1, 6-3. "Logar played very well, but Zuzana still had her opportunities. I was extremely proud of Zuzana's effort and composure. She has improved so much over the past year, and there are so many exciting things in her future," said Rhodes.

Yesterday in the round of 32 Cerna defeated Kentucky's Kim Coventry, ranked 15th by the ITA. After this weekend's play, Cerna is 17-5 overall and 7-5 against ranked competitors. Her only losses this fall have come from ranked players.
