WACO, Texas - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association acknowledged men's tennis' Lars Poerschke and Matija Zgaga in the central region rankings in both singles and doubles play for their outstanding fall performances.

Poerschke, a freshman, holds the No. 1 position in the South Central region. Poershcke went 13-4 last fall in singles play including an impressive victory over Bojan Szumanski of Texas Tech 7-6, 6-4 to win the ITA Central Regional. He then advanced to the ITA National Indoor Consolation Finals before facing defeat to KC Corkery of Stanford 6-3, 6-4.

Zgaga placed sixth in the regional rankings after going 8-1 with his only loss coming in the final match of the fall. He won the Baylor Intercollegiate in September but was knocked out of the ITA Central Regional in the round of 16 by Roger Gubser of Texas in the third set.

Poerschke and Zgaga pair received the No. 1 ranking for their fall play. In their first tournament together, the duo won the ITA Central Regional advancing to the ITA National Indoor. They went 5-0 in the regional qualifier and won their first match at the national indoor before facing defeat in the quarterfinal round by a team from Harvard.

Spring action starts for Baylor Jan. 14 when the Bears travel to Thousand Oaks, Calif. for the Sherwood Classic.
