Women's Tennis Doubles Team Ranked Ninth in ITA

WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's tennis doubles team of Zuzana Cerna and Daniela Covello are ranked ninth after the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its 2005 team and individual rankings on Tuesday. The team received an overall ranking of 41st.

The women return six from a squad that finished the 2004 season ranked 43rd by the ITA.

Carolin Walter leads the 2005 Lady Bears in singles with a ranking of No. 43. Newcomer Zuzana Cerna checked in at No. 92 in singles and Cerna and doubles partner Daniela Covello are ranked No. 9 in doubles.

The next ITA team rankings come on Feb. 1, while singles and doubles rankings will be posted again on Feb. 22.

The women's season begins at the University of Florida Jan. 22, in Gainesville.
