Men's Tennis' Zgaga Wins Baylor Intercollegiate

WACO, Texas - Men's tennis' Matija Zgaga won his first tournament of the year at the HEB Baylor Intercollegiate Tournament Sunday, Sept. 26 at the Baylor Tennis Facility.
Fifth-seeded Zgaga won all six of his matches during the weekend tournament improving his all-time record at Baylor to 38-7. This is his second collegiate tournament championship having won the Midland Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational last fall.
Zgaga's first match of the day came against Yevgeny Supeko of Texas A&M in the semifinals round. He put Supeko away in two straight sets 6-4; 6-4. In the finals match, Zgaga defeated Joseph Jung of Alabama 6-2; 6-1 to take the championship. For the second straight year, a Baylor Bear was crowned champion of the intercollegiate.
In other action on the day, Ian Vazquez-Rowe of UT-Arlington defeated UT-San Antonio's Joe Olfindo 6-1; 6-3 to take the green bracket championship. In doubles action, the top-seeded duo from TCU of Rafael Abreu and Fabrizio Sestini defeated Niels Buksik and Sandy Farquharson of UT-Arlington 8-5 to take the doubles trophy.
