The Baylor men's golf team shot a final-round 323 to finish with a total of 961 and end up in 25th place Saturday at NCAA Central Regional hosted by Purdue at the 7,259-yard, par-72 Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Freshman Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) led the Bears and tied for 51st with a total of 231 (77-77-77). Senior Jon Antunes (Belton, Texas) tied for 111th with a 242 (80-81-81), and freshman Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) tied for 122nd with a 245 (80-84-81).
Junior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) tied for 125th with 247 (84-79-84), and senior Will Doughtie (Amarillo, Texas) tied for 132nd at 249 (84-80-85).
Kentucky's John Holmes (73-70-71=214) took individual medalist honors and led the Wildcats to the team title with a total of 882 (298-285-299). Oklahoma State (893) finished second, Oklahoma (896) third and Texas A&M (899) fourth. TCU and Texas tied for fifth at 901. SMU's Will Dodson (72-73-71=216) finished second, while Texas' Jason Hartwick and Kentucky's Brandon Waldrop tied for third at 217.
The Bears wrapped up their 2003-04 season, while the top-10 teams move on to the NCAA Championships June 1-4 at The Homestead Cascades Course in Hot Springs, Va.
