The Baylor men's golf team travels to San Juan, Puerto Rico, this weekend to play in the Hyatt/Puerto Rico Intercollegiate Sunday through Tuesday at the Dorado Beach Golf Club.

The Bears are coming off a second-place showing at the UTSA Roadrunner Intercollegiate earlier this week, the team's highest finish under first-year head coach Greg Priest.

Junior Ryan Baca captured individual medalist honors at the tourament with a final-round 67 for his third career victory. Freshman Jeremy Alcorn continued his outstanding rookie campaign by tying for seventh to notch his first career Top-10 finish.

* Will Doughtie [Sophomore]: Tied for 52nd (78-76-76=230) in his last outing at the UTSA Roadrunner Intercollegiate (3/1-3/2)...Finished 65th (78-75-77=230) at the Gator Invitational (1/31-2/1)...Competed in four tournaments in the fall...Highest finish was a tie for eighth at the William H. Tucker with a season-low total of 216 (74-70-72)...Twice had season-low rounds of 70, once at the William H. Tucker and again at the Baylor Invitational.

* Jeremy Frye [Freshman]: Tied for 22nd (73-76-73=222) in his last tournament at the UTSA Roadrunner Intercollegiate (3/1-3/2)...Tied for 41st (71-73-79=223) in his last outing at the Gator Invitational...Played in four tournaments in the fall...Finished fourth at the Baylor Invitational shooting back-to-back sub 70 rounds...Also Finished tied for 15th at the Stonebridge Invitational...Ended the fall with the best stroke average on the team with a 73.54 for 11 rounds.

* Will McDonald [Sophomore]: Will be making his first appearance of the spring by competing as an individual this weekend...Competed in three fall tournaments...Highest finish was tied for 33rd at the Baylor Invitational, where he shot a season-low 223 (74-75-74), including two season-low rounds of 74.

Baylor is making its first appearance at the Hyatt/Puerto Rico Intercollegiate.

Hat Trick for Baca Junior Ryan Baca captured his third career individual title at the UTSA Roadrunner Intercollegiate earlier this week...Baca fired a season-low 67 in the final round to win the championship...He has shot even-par or better in six of his last nine rounds and leads the team with a 72.80 stroke average (71.00 in the spring).

Fab Freshmen
Two Bear freshmen have made an immediate impact in their first seasons...Jeremy Frye is second on the team with a 73.76 stroke average, while Jeremy Alcorn is third with a 74.66 stroke average and recorded his first career Top-10 finish by tying for seventh at the UTSA Roadrunner Intercollegiate in his last outing.

Junior Ryan Baca won his third career individual title to lead the Bears to a second-place finish at the UTSA Roadrunner Intercollegiate March 1-2...The team finished with a total of 890 and matched its season-low with a 285 in the final round...Freshman Jeremy Alcorn had his first career Top-10 finish by tying for seventh.

Baylor will return to action at the Morris Williams Invitational Monday and Tuesday, March 15-16 hosted by Texas at Austin Country Club in Austin...The Bears are making their second straight appearance at the event, finishing ninth in 2003.
