The Baylor men's golf team closed with a 296 to finish with a total of 882 and place 10th at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the 6,906-yard, par-72 Austin Country Club Tuesday.
Junior Ryan Baca was the Bears highest finisher for the fourth straight tournament, tying for 12th at 2-under par 214 (74-67-73). Freshman Jeremy Alcorn tied for 22nd at even-par 216 (72-71-73).
Senior Jon Antunes (76-76-74) and freshman Jeremy Frye (76-74-76) each tied for 53rd at 226, while sophomore Will McDonald (80-84-76=240), who was competing as an individual, tied for 77th and senior Will Doughtie (79-89-77=245) finished 80th.
BYU fired 6-under par (858) to win the team title by two strokes over TCU (860) and three strokes over Oklahoma State (861). Tulsa (865) and California (867) rounded out the Top 5. Arkansas' Andrew Dahl shot 10-under par 206 (64-68-74) to take individual medalist honors by four strokes over Texas' Jason Hartwick (70-71-69=210) and four others tied at 5-under par 211.
The Bears return to action at the Border Olympics hosted by Texas A&M Friday and Saturday April 2-3 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
