Tennis Players Named Preseason All-Big 12

WACO, Texas - The 2nd-ranked Baylor men's tennis team had four singles players and two doubles teams earn Preseason All-Big 12 honors and the women's squad placed one singles player and a doubles team on the list, the Big 12 Conference announced. The list was voted on by the league's head coaches.

Head coach Matt Knoll's men's squad accounted for one-third of the men's 12-player singles list, headlined by junior Benedikt Dorsch. Dorsch, currently ranked No. 3 in the national rankings, also was named the league's Preseason Player of the Year, he earned Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors last season. Baylor players joining Dorsch on the list are junior Benjamin Becker, sophomore Ivor Lovrak and senior Matias Marin. Freshman Matija Zgaga was tabbed as the league's Preseason Freshman of the Year. Becker and Lovrak and Dorsch and senior Reiner Neurohr made the five-team list in doubles. Dorsch and Neurohr earned All-American honors last season in doubles.

On the women's side, freshman Carolin Walter was named to the 13-member list in singles while the tandem of sophomore Stephanie Balzert and junior Daria Potapova earned doubles recognition. The women's team, under the guidance of head coach Joey Scrivano, is currently ranked No. 32.
