Waco, Texas - The No. 3 ranked Baylor men's tennis team went to Los Angles to face one of its toughest opponents of the year, the No. 9 UCLA Bruins. After rain delayed the match until 4 pm CST Baylor was able to extended its winning record to 8-1 on the season by defeating the Bruins 5-2.

In doubles play, Baylor's undefeated duo of Benedikt Dorsch and Ivor Lovrak, ranked No. 32 in the nation upset the No. 29 team of Alberto Francis and Krysztof Kwinta 8-5 at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 position UCLA's Tobias Clemens and Chris Lam defeated Baylor's Reiner Neurohr and Matija Zgaga 8-4. Winning the doubles point for the Bears Benjamin Becker and Matias Marin defeated Phillipp Gruendler and Chris Surapol 9-7.

In singles competition the Bears didn't let up, Neurohr defeated Surapol in two sets 6-2, 6-2, while Zgaga upset No. 61 Lam by a score of 3-6, 4-6. Marin now on a six game win streak also pulled off an upset against No. 73 Kwinta 6-7, 7-5, (10-7). Rounding out Baylor's wins in the singles compeition was No. 8 Becker defeating No. 43 Francis 5-7, 4-6.

The only losses for Baylor came when UCLA's Gruendler defeated Lovrak 6-2, 6-1, and No. 5 Clemens upset No. 1 Dorsch 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 making it Dorsch's second straight loss.

The team will remain in California this weekend taking on No. 13 USC at 3 pm Saturday and Pepperdine at 1 pm Sunday. USC boast four ranked players: No. 16 Jamil Al-Agba, No. 68 Ruben Torres, No. 69 Drew Hoskins, and No. 84 Johan Berg, while Pepperdine has two ranked netters, No. 38 Pedro Rico and No. 82 Calle Hansen.
