Men's Tennis Defeats Auburn No. 5 Bears Pound No. 29 Tigers 5-2
Waco, Texas - The men's tennis team continued its winning ways Friday at the Baylor Tennis Center defeating Auburn 5-2. In doubles competition, the Bears had no trouble with the undefeated duo of Benedikt Dorsch and Ivor Lovrak defeating Gabor Zoltan Pelva and Alex Schweizer 8-5 at the No. 1 spot. Finishing next at the No. 3 spot Benjamin Becker and Matias Marin also won 8-5 defeating Nick Lane and Brett Hunter. Having already won the doubles point the match consisting Reiner Neurohr and Matija Zgaga for Baylor and Robert Lathouwers and Rodrigo Minozzo was called off with Neurohr and Zgaga winning 7-4.
In singles competition, the Bears ran into some resistance but still won four of six matches. Finishing first with a decisive victory Dorsch easily defeated Alex Schweizer 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 1 position with Lovrak finishing close behind with a victory over Hunter 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot. At the No. 3 spot Matias Marin defeated Rodrigo Minozzo 6-4, 7-5 and at the No. 5 spot Reiner Neurohr defeated Nick Lane in two sets 6-4, 6-3. Nearing the end of the match Baylor ran into some trouble with Matija Zgaga's 11 match win steak coming to an end with a super tie breaker loss to No. 40 Gabor Zoltan Pelva 5-7, 6-2, 0-1 (10-5) at the No. 2 spot. Rounding out play Benjamin Becker lost in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 4-6 at the No. 4 spot.
