WACO, Texas - Baylor women's tennis' Carolin Walter grabbed a pair of victories Tuesday, (Oct. 5) in the qualifying singles round at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The fourth seeded Walter, a sophomore, defeated Fresno State's Katherin Winterhalter 6-3, 6-2 in the round of 64 advancing her into the round of 32 where she faced Nicole Bouffler , a senior from Long Beach State.
Walter fought through a three-set match with Bouffler taking the win 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.
Walter now advances into the round of 16, only one win away from qualifying to play in the Main Draw set to take place Oct. 7-10
Walter will face Mississippi's Chloe Carlotti tomorrow in the final round of qualifying singles. This is not the first time Walter has faced off against Carlotti. She defeated Carlotti 6-0, 6-4 in Waco last season.
The match is scheduled to begin at 12:30 CST.
