BATON ROUGE, La. - Sophomore Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) fired a 5-under par 67 in the final round of The University Club Intercollegiate to win the individual title at the 7,205-yard par 72 University Club G.C. Alcorn's final round score of 67 is a new career low helping him claim his first individual title.
Alcorn (68-68-67=203) finished the tournament with 17 birdies and completed play on the par 3's at four-under par through the three rounds. He finished one shot ahead of second place finishers Will Dodson and Colt Knost of SMU.
Sophomore Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) shot a two-over par 74 (74-69-74=217) in the final round to finish tied for 38th, while Sophomore Dusty Isabell (Athens, Texas) fired a one-over par 73 in his final round to finish tied for 58th. Sophomore Matt Briggs (San Antonio, Texas) shot a strong final round of two-under par 70 (79-73-70=222) to finish tied for 64th along with sophomore Brian Meck (Austin, Texas), who finished tied for 64th (72-75-75=222) as well.
Baylor as a team finished tied for 11th after posting a final round 284 (285-285-284=854). SMU (275-274-276=825) claimed the team title by seven shots over Arkansas (275-279-278=832) while Mississippi (281-278-281=840) rounded out the top-three.
This concludes the fall season for the Bears, but will return to action Feb. 28 in San Antonio to play in the UTSA Roadrunner Invitational.
