WACO, Texas - Baylor's women's golf team opened up its season Monday at the 16-team Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colorado. With opening rounds of 292 and 309, the Bears are tied with the University of Colorado for 5th place with a total of 601. The University of San Francisco leads the tournament by a score of 574 at the 6,113- yard, 72- par Ptarmigan Country Club. They are followed by Nevada (590), Colorado State (596) and the University of Denver (599).
San Francisco's Kristi Larsen shot 5-under par and leads the tournament with a two-round total of 139. Baylor freshman Anna Rehnholm and sophomore Josefin Svenningsson are tied for fifth with totals of 147. Rehnholm shot a 73 in the first found and followed with a 74 while Svenningsson carded a 69 and 78.
Senior Kelli McKandless is tied for 37th with a score of 153. Three shots behind McKandless is fellow senior Michaelyn Morgan, at 156, placing her in a tie for 53rd. Sophomore transfer Meredith Jones is tied for 57th after shooting a 158.
The Bears will close out the tournament in the third and final round on Tuesday.
