OKLAHOMA CITY - Zane Carlson tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to close the game, and Baylor pounded 12 hits as the 16th-ranked Bears edged Missouri 9-8 here Friday night in third-day action of the Big 12 Conference Tournament at Bricktown Ballpark.

The Bears (39-20) now have a rematch with No. 7 Nebraska at 1 p.m. Saturday; the game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest. Should the Bears win that game, the teams would play again later in the day. Nebraska topped Baylor 9-5 Friday. Missouri (35-20) is eliminated from tournament play with the loss.

The all-time Big 12 saves leader, Carlson posted his first career save in Big 12 Tournament play. He allowed only one hit, an up-the-middle infield single by Tyler Williams to lead off the top of the ninth. Carlson now has nine saves on the season and 32 for his career.

Missouri made things interesting with four unearned runs in the top of the seventh to nearly erase a 9-4 Baylor lead. Kyle Johnson reached on one of Baylor's five errors on the night to lead off the inning; he later scored on a Jayce Tingler single down the line in right. Two batters later, Cody Ehlers blasted his ninth home run of the season, a three-run, two-out shot to right.

That's when Carlson entered the game, spelling reliever Andy Pape. Trey Taylor started on the hill for Baylor, but struggled with control after a 1-2-3 first. Taylor, who did not allow a hit, surrendered four runs, only one earned, on four walks and strikeout in two-plus innings. Pape (3-0) was very sharp in relief, allowing no earned runs on five hits and no walks with three strikeouts in a career-long 4.2 innings.

After plating two runs in the bottom of the first, Baylor was touched for three runs in the top of the second. Missouri pushed its lead to 4-2 with a run in the top; however, the Bears tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the frame, including a David Murphy solo home run.

The Bears took the lead for good in the fourth, scoring three times on three hits. Kevin Sevigny, Chris Durbin and David Murphy collected three consecutive singles to open the inning; Murphy's plated Sevigny to make it 5-4. Durbin later scored on a Josh Ford groundout, and Murphy came home on a Michael Griffin sacrifice fly.

Griffin gave Baylor two more crucial runs in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Murphy on his 10th home run of the season.

Murphy was 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBI and a walk. Trey Webb also had three hits in four at bats.

Missouri starter Garrett Broshuis (5-3) was touched for seven runs on nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three-plus innings of work. Nick Admire went the rest of the way for Missouri, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
