Men's Golfers Finish Tied for Third at Laredo

LAREDO, Texas - Baylor Men's Golf concluded the third and final round at the 52nd annual Border Olympics here Saturday with the Bears finishing tied for 3rd of 20 teams.

Baylor (285-290-286=861) was led by sophomore Ryan Baca (71-68-70=209) who finished tied for second individually. The second place finish marked the seventh time Baca has made a top-five finish in his career.

Host Texas A&M (859) won the invitational in a playoff against Arkansas (859). The Bears tied San Diego State (861) for third, just two strokes back. Kansas State (869) finished fifth.

The Bears had three individuals place in the top-30. Junior Will Doughtie (70-74-72=216) finished tied for 15th. Freshman Will McDonald (71-79-69=219) shot a three-under 69 on Saturday to finish tied for 28th.

Senior Trevar Matheson (73-72-75=220) shot a three round 220 and finished tied for 38th. Junior Austin Burk (73-76-80=229) finished tied for 81st.

This was the Bears final tune-up before the Big 12 Championships on April 28-29 in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament will be hosted by Oklahoma State.
