Women's Tennis Remains at No. 36 in Rankings

WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's tennis team moved back up to No. 3 in the latest Omni Hotel Collegiate Tennis Rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while the women's squad remained at No. 36.

With the move from No. 5 to No. 3, the Bears received their eighth No. 3 ranking of the season. The Bears are now 25-1 after winning the Big 12 Tournament title in Kansas City, Mo., last weekend. It was Baylor's second straight Big 12 regular season and tournament championship. Illinois, who dealt Baylor their only loss of the season, sits atop the rankings at No. 1. Florida is No. 2, Baylor checks in at No. 3,Stanford is No. 4 and UCLA is No. 5.

In individual rankings, sophomore Benedikt Dorsch, currently 42-2 on the season, remained at No. 2. Sophomore Benjamin Becker, with an dual match mark of 19-1 and overall record of 27-7, jumped 19 spots from No. 60 to No. 41 while senior Zoltan Papp (27-8) leapt from No. 51 to No. 44. Matias Marin, a junior with a 29-9 record, slipped to No. 45 and freshman Ivor Lovrak, who is undefeated in dual match play at 18-0, jumped back into the rankings at No. 97. In doubles, Dorsch and junior Reiner Neurohr moved up four spots to No. 29 to become the Bears' top-ranked doubles tandem at 21-2. Becker and Papp, with a 19-6 record, are now ranked No. 33.

On the women's side, Joey Scrivano's team stayed at No. 36. After winning their first-ever Big 12 Championship the Bears bowed out of the Big 12 Tournament with a 4-2 loss to Colorado. The women are 11-12 on the season and finished Big 12 action at 9-2, losing only to Texas and Oklahoma State. Senior Vida Mulec is the team's lone ranked player. After being ranked No. 100 in the April 23rd rankings, she dropped to No. 105 this week.
