WACO, Tx - #45 Baylor (1-2) vs. #21 Miami Fla. (2-0)
Sat. Feb.8, 2003 - 2 p.m. Baylor Tennis Center.

The Bears will be in Waco for the first time this season when they take on the 21st ranked Miami Hurricanes. The Bears come in with a 1-2 record after splitting weekend matches with a win over Marquette 7-0 and a loss to 40th-ranked Ohio State 4-3.

Baylor lost the doubles point for the second consecutive week against Ohio State on Saturday but rebounded to sweep Marquette the next day.

In singles Vida Mulec was upset by Ohio States Sadhaf Perez on Saturday and Barbora Blahtiakova remained undefeated at 3-0 on the season after winning both of her singles matches on the weekend.

The Hurricanes enter this weekends match with a 2-0 record and a recent defeat of Florida Atlantic University this past week. The Hurricanes are led by #57 Mari Toro who will most likely be playing in the No. 1 spot against Baylor's Vida Mulec who is currently ranked #43. The Bears take on the Hurricanes Sat. Feb 8 at the Baylor Tennis Center at 2 p.m. Results can be accessed online at www.baylorbears.com.

Team Notes...
- The Bears' 2003 spring schedule pits the them against 19 ranked teams, three of which are currently in the top 20.
- With Vida Mulec's doubles win against Marquette she is now tied with Frida Bojesson Baylor's on all-time (5) career doubles wins, with 69.
-The Women's Tennis team is 21-4 in its two year history at The Baylor Tennis Center.

Mulec Named Preseason All-Big 12
Senior Vida Mulec recieved preseason All-Big 12 honors in a vote of league coaches. The doubles team of Mulec/Anna Monclova was also tabbed preseason All Big 12. Mulec, a native of Maribor, Slovenia, is currently ranked No. 43 nationally. She ended her fall season with a 8-5 record and made it to the finals of the ITA Southwest Regionals.

Baylor in the Rankings
The latest Omni Hotels Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, released Feb. 5, showed the Bears to slip two spots to No. 45 The Bears are currently 1-2 on the season after splitting a pair of games between Ohio State and Marquette in Milwaukee this past weekend. Vida Mulec is the lone Bear in the rankings at No. 43 in singles.

Head Coach Joey Scrivano
Baylor Head Coach Joey Scrivano is in his first season at the helm of the women's tennis program. He has a career record of 61-20 which includes his three year stint at theUniversity of South Alabama (60-18). While at South Alabama he led the program to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances in three years including a quarterfinals finish in 2000.

Women's Tennis Promotions
HEB will be outside the Baylor Tennis Center on Saturday giving away free food to the first 100 fans in attendance to the women's tennis match against Miami. There will also be 100 free Baylor women's tennis t-shirts given out as well.
