WACO, Texas - The game was tied at 71 at the end of regulation and each team scored six in the first extra period, but Baylor exploded for 18 points in the second extra stanza to defeat Iowa State 95-83 at the Ferrell Center. The Lady Bears improve to 14-5 overall, 3-4 in conference play, while the Cyclones fall to 8-10 with an identical Big 12 record of 3-4.

Steffanie Blackmon and Sophia Young each had outstanding games for head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson. Each of them recorded double-doubles, the ninth of the season for Young and the seventh for Blackmon. Overall five Lady Bears reached double figures in scoring led by 24 from Blackmon and 15 from Young. Jessika Stratton (14), Ebony Jackson (12) and Jordan Davis (10) each reached double figures as well.

Young grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds and Blackmon snagged 10 as the Lady Bears recorded a season-high 57 boards.

Iowa State led by as many as seven, 56-49, with 12:03 remaining in regulation, but Baylor slowly chipped away at the Cyclone lead. A 3-pointer by Stratton at the 5:59 mark gave the Lady Bears their first lead of the second half and the advantage changed hands four more times before Iowa State's Lindsey Wilson hit one of her two free throw attempts to tie the game at 71 with 16 seconds to play. Baylor threw up two more shots in regulation, but neither went in forcing the first overtime period.

Baylor never led in the first overtime, but the Lady Bears managed to remain in striking distance. A Blackmon free throw with 1:18 remaining capped off a three-point play and tied the game at 77. Neither team scored again in the first extra period, sending the game to a second overtime.

The Lady Bears scored first in the second over time and took the lead for good on two Stratton foul shots at the 3:13 mark. They outscored the Cyclones 13-4 from that point on to record the hard-fought victory.

Wilson scored 36 points and Anne O'Neill added 23 for the Cyclones.

After the tough victory at home, Baylor travels to Nebraska on Wednesday.
