WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's tennis team, ranked No.3 nationally, defeated UL-Lafayette, 6-1, in their home season opener at the Baylor Tennis Courts on Monday afternoon.

Baylor swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point then took five of the six singles matches to earn the victory.

Baylor's lone loss was at No. 1 singles when UL-Lafayette's Jakub Ilowski defeated top-ranked Benedikt Dorsch in three sets. Dorsch took the first set 6-3 but then dropped the next two to lose by scores of 6-3, and 7-5. Baylor's Benjamin Becker, Ivor Lovrak and Reiner Neurohr all posted two set victories for the Bears. Barry McLaren and Mike Garcia, playing at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, each took three sets to claim victory.

Garcia, a senior, turned in one of the more impressive performances of the day for the Bears. He lost the first set 6-3 and was down 4-1 in the second set before storming back to claim the second set and even the match. He won the third set and the match when he posted a 7-1 score in the tiebreaker.
