Waco, Texas - Baylor freshman standout Benjamin Becker of Orscholz, Germany has been named as Big 12 Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Mar. 18-24, the conference office announced Tuesday. This marked the second straight week for Becker to earn the honor.
Becker rolled to three consecutive victories against nationally-ranked teams and individuals for the 15-1 Bears, who are rated 16th nationally under coach Matt Knoll. The BU yearling defeated Kentucky's No. 5 nationally Jesse Witten 7-5, 6-4 and Colorado's Maciej Dilaj 7-6, 6-2 in straight sets. Becker later downed Big 12 single foe Royce Ramey of Texas Tech 6-3, 6-1 while teaming with Zoltan Papp to finish 3-0 in doubles for the seven-day period.
