WACO, Texas - The 19th- ranked Baylor women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to 39th-ranked South Alabama on Monday at the Baylor Tennis Center.
The Jaguars swept all three doubles matches. Josien Boverhof and Nienke Scheltens, ranked No. 42, defeated Baylor's No. 1 team of Katja Kovac and Vida Mulec, 8-4. Kovca and Mulec are ranked No. 24. South Alabama also swept through the singles matches, four of which were won in two sets. The only Baylor players to extend their matches beyond two sets were Frida Borjesson and Daria Potapova.
The Bears will open their Big 12 Conference season on Friday (March 15) when they host 24th-ranked Oklahoma State at 1:30 p.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center. On Saturday (March 16) they will take on Colorado at noon, also at the Baylor Tennis Center.
