DALLAS - Texas A&M, which also is hosting the 2002 NCAA Men's Championships for the first time this spring, has been designated as the new host school and site for the sixth annual Apr. 25-28, 2002, Big 12 Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Tournaments.
The switch from the previously-designated site-Lubbock, Texas, with Texas Tech as host-was approved Friday by Big 12 Directors of Athletics. Texas Tech continues to put the finishing touches on its new tennis facility and will not have the courts completely ready by late April.
This is Texas A&M's second time as host of the Big 12 tennis tournaments. Previous sites have been Austin, Texas (1997), Lincoln, Neb. (1998), College Station (1999), Kansas City (2000), and Waco, Texas (2001).
