Four Baylor men's tennis players and two women's players are ranked among the nation's top 100 in singles it was released today. The Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings are administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
With four players ranked, the No. 8 Baylor men's team has set an all-time high for most players ranked. Two other seasons (1999 & 2000) three Bears appeared in the national rankings at one time. Freshman Benjamin Becker is the Bears' highest ranked player at No. 8, dropping from his preseason ranking of No. 3. Sophomore Markus Hornung checked in at No. 27 while junior Zoltan Papp is No. 41 and previously unranked Matias Marin, a sophomore, enters the rankings tied for No. 69.
On the women's side, senior Katja Kovac and junior Vida Mulec also appeared among the top 100. Kovac slipped to No. 35 after a preseason ranking of No. 29. Mulec also dropped in the rankings, going from No. 43 to No. 57.
Doubles rankings saw three men's teams in the top 40. Reiner Neurohr and Markus Hornung are Baylor's highest at No. 11, while the team of Zoltan Papp and Nathan McGregor check in at No. 38 and Becker and Hornung are right behind them at No. 39.
In women's doubles Kovac and Mulec are now No. 29..

The Baylor women play at No. 46 Arkansas Saturday at 5 p.m. CST, and the men host Nebraska in their Big 12 Conference opener at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Baylor Tennis Center.
