Fort Worth, Texas - After a late start because of rain delays, the Bears came out hot in singles action today at the Omni Hotels Women's ITA regional at TCU.

Sixth-seeded Vida Mulec started out the day with a win over Katy Prokop from Arkansas-Little Rock 6-2, 6-1, and will be advancing to the second round. Other winners include, Stephanie Balzert who defeated Rice's Stephanie Moat 6-4, 6-4, Izabela Mijic who defeated Danielle Lee from Texas A&M 6-3, 6-3, and Daria Potapova won over Magali Risoleo of McNeese St. 7-6, 6-0, all of which will be advancing to the next round on Saturday.

In other action today, sophomore Barbora Blahutiakova lost in a late match due to a rain delay to Kelly Bucewicz of Louisiana-Monroe 6-4, 7-6, and sophomore Alison Bradley came up short against fifth seeded Paty Aburto of TCU 6-1, 6-1. Doubles action will be posted tomorrow due to inclement weather today.

Singles and doubles action will resume play Saturday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
