WACO, Texas - Baylor men's tennis coach Matt Knoll announced his team's fall 2001 schedule Monday.
The Baylor men will participate in eight tournaments this fall, including the first annual Texas Intercollegiates, to be hosted by the Bears and played at the Baylor Tennis Center.
The tournament will include some of the top teams in tennis, including five teams that finished among the nation's top 25 teams this spring: Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, TCU and Arkansas. Texas Tech, Lamar, Texas A&M -Corpus Christi, UT-Arlington, UT-Pan American, UT-San Antonio and UL-Lafayette are among other schools scheduled to participate.
A young Baylor team finished the 2001 spring season with a 12-12 overall record and ranked 30th in the nation. The Bears compiled a 6-2 record in conference play and finished second in the Big 12. A strong group of returnees, led by 2000 Big 12 Freshman of the Year Zoltan Papp and 2001 Big 12 Freshman of the Year Reiner Neurohr, will anchor the Baylor line-up this fall.
