WACO, Texas - Baylor's bats came to life Saturday as the 15th-ranked Bears crushed Texas 12-2 in front of 4,132 fans at Baylor Ballpark.

Coming in to Saturday's contest, the Bears had dropped five of their last six games, averaging just over two runs per game in that span. However, Baylor pounded out 17 hits, scored the last 12 runs of the game and run-ruled Texas (30-17) for the first time in three years.

The Bears (29-15) also ended their four-game losing streak within Big 12 play. Starter Steven White (9-1) threw a complete game (eight innings), giving up just seven hits and striking out four.

Baylor started the hit parade on Texas' starter Albert Montes (6-5) when Trevor Mote smashed his third homer of the season over the right field wall, cutting the Longhorn lead to 2-1.

The next inning, Ron Zboril's homerun to left-center plated two and gave the Bears a lead that they would not relinquish.

Baylor added four more runs in the sixth when Tim Hartshorn's double scored Mark Saccomanno and Matt Williams. Williams hit is his tenth home run of the season in the seventh when he hit a two-run bomb over the center field wall.

Mike Huggins' single to center closed the door on the Longhorns as Chris Durbin scored the Bears' 12th run.

Each starter for Baylor scored at least once and eight Bears hit safely.

The rubber match of the three game set is scheduled for Sunday at Baylor Ballpark, with the first pitch at 2 p.m.
