WACO, Texas - Baylor baseball coach Steve Smith Wednesday announced the signings of two more prospects for the 2002 season.
Giving the coach signatures were infielder/pitcher Michael Griffin and outfielder Alan Moye.
Griffin, a native of Cedar Hill, Texas, currently ranks second in Dallas Class 5A with a .540 batting average. The 5-10, 170 pound Griffin has earned numerous awards playing at Cedar Hill High School, including the 2000 Cy Young Award, first team all-district honors and the Ted Williams .400 Club. In the classroom, Griffin ranks fourth in a class of 385 students with a 3.93 GPA.
Longview, Texas, native Moye is a three-time all-district selection from Pinetree High School. Moye, a 6-4, 190 pound outfielder, hit .344 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 2000. The switchhitter also earned all-East Texas honors as both a baseball and football player.
"I am excited about the addition of Michael and Alan to our 2002 recruiting class," Smith said. "These young men are good athletes and excellent students who will be great additions to our program and Baylor University."
The addition of Griffin and Moye brings the total number of Baylor signees to 10. The Bears signed eight players during the November early signing period, including Joshua Barfield, Ryan Bennett, Zachary Dillon, Joshua Ford, Trey Taylor, Sean Walker, Abe Woody and Paul Witt.
