WACO, Texas - Head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon announced the signing of Erin Bradford of Lexington, Kentucky to a National Letter of Intent to play golf for the Bears beginning in the fall of 2002. Bradford is currently a senior at P.L. Dunbar High School in Lexington.
Bradford helped lead her team to a Kentucky state championship in the fall of 2001 as well as qualifying for the Kentucky State Women's Amateur. She also was a member of the 2001 Kentucky Challenge Cup Team, a Kentucky State Junior Champion in 2000, and a 2000 qualifier for the USGA Juniors. Bradford has played golf for over 10 years and has over 25 first place finishes and 18 second place finishes.
Academically, Bradford is a member of the National Beta Club and the National French Honor Society.
Coach Ferdon says, "Erin is, in coaching terms, 'a diamond in the rough'. She is 5'8" tall, swings a bat and throws left-handed, but plays golf right handed. Her father played professional baseball and her older brother is a golf pro. I assume it is in her genes to be a successful athlete at the college level and possibly the professional level of competition. I know she has set high goals for her future".
Ferdon also said, "With such a diverse athletic background in three sports, Erin fills the definition of a 'perfect fit' for Baylor University. She is the type of athlete that I really look forward to coaching".
