Men's Tennis in Georgia Scramble - Day 1

Waco, Texas - Baylor's men's tennis team, in Athens, Georgia to participate in the second-annual Bulldog Scramble, played doubles against Mississippi State and singles against a combined Georgia/Kentucky/Mississippi State squad today at Georgia's Henry Field Stadium at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Six Baylor players, Armando Carrascosa, Mike Garcia, Matias Marin, Nathan McGregor, Zoltan Papp and Cory Ross, are representing the Bears.

The teams are playing a round robin format with individual results, but no team scoring. The Bears will play singles against Mississippi State on Saturday, Nov. 3 and doubles against the Georgia/Kentucky squad on Sunday.

Baylor won two of their three doubles matches Friday against Mississippi State. Baylor's Zoltan Papp and Nathan McGregor lost to Romain Ambert and Rene-Charles Combette, ranked 39th nationally, 8-5. Cory Ross and Mike Garcia of Baylor defeated Matt Armstrong and Luiz Carvalho, 9-8 (2). The Bears' Matias Marin and Armando Carrascosa beat Max Fomine and David Ruiz, 8-4.

The Bears posted four wins in their six singles matches against the Kentucky/Georgia/Mississippi State squad. Matias Marin, Armando Carrascosa, Nathan McGregor and Mike Garcia all posted victories for the Bears.
