FB's Rhett Armstrong Earns Lou Groza Award Recognition

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Baylor football sophomore kicker Rhett Armstrong has been named a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week for Week 4, as announced Tuesday by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

Armstrong made all three of his field goal tries in Saturday's 23-13 win over Colorado, connecting from 37 and 27 yards out before capping the victory with a late 54-yarder in the fourth quarter. The kick matched the record for longest made field goal in McLane Stadium history.

Through four games so far this season, Armstrong has logged a pair of three-FG performances, helping him to eight field goals on the year, tied for fifth in the country. He accounted for a season-high 14 points in Week 2 vs. Prairie View A&M, one of his two double-digit scoring outputs so far in 2026.

Each week, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three of the top kickers from FBS division teams as "Stars of the Week." The Award is named for NFL Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named the NFL Player of the Year in 1954. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an NFL roster for a kicker.
