WACO, Texas – A familiar sound from Baylor football's past will return throughout the 2026 season as Baylor Athletics brings back the Bear Bell as part of the football game day experience.
Debuting in 1972, the first season of Hall of Fame head coach Grant Teaff's tenure at Baylor, the Bear Bell became a recognizable part of Baylor football game days and remained a tradition into the 2000s. Bruiser would ride the bell and ring it following Baylor touchdowns.
Beginning this season, the Bear Bell will be part of every home football game day at McLane Stadium. With support from Sigma Chi and Baylor Student Activities, the bell has been redesigned for the 2026 season. Continuing the tradition, Bruiser will once again ride the Bear Bell, which will be rung following Baylor touchdowns. New this season, the Bear Bell will also be showcased as part of the Bear Walk before entering McLane Stadium.
"Traditions create a connection between generations of Baylor Bears, and we want to be intentional about celebrating our history while continuing to build the game day experience," Associate AD for Marketing and Fan Experience Aaron Fordyce said. "The Bear Bell is a great example of that, and we appreciate Sigma Chi and Baylor Student Activities for helping us bring this tradition back to Baylor football game days. There is more to come, and we're really excited for fans to experience everything we have planned this season."
Fans will get their first opportunity to experience the Bear Bell as part of the 2026 game day experience when the Bears host Prairie View A&M on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. for 254 Night. Season tickets and single-game tickets for the 2026 Baylor football season are on sale now HERE.
