DAY 3 RESULTS
AUSTIN, Texas – Winning their respective heats, the Baylor men's and women's 4x100 relays both advanced to the finals on Friday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Running without senior All-American Tiriah Kelley, the women's all-underclassmen crew of sophomores Royaltee Brown and Hannah Lowe and freshmen Jada Edwards and Success Oyibu won the sixth and final heat in 45.40 to edge Houston (45.78) for the final qualifying spot. Texas (43.14), Texas Tech (43.47) and Clemson (43.80) won their respective heats and ran under 44 seconds to lead the qualifiers.
On the men's side, Austen Diggs, Laurenz Colbert, Ricquan Grahm and Brian Limage outdueled conference-rival TCU to win its heat in 40.05 seconds, the slowest of nine qualifiers. Houston (39.21) and Texas Tech (39.37), the national leader, had the fastest qualifying times.
Baylor's jumps crew had three of the Bears' four podium finishes on Day 3 of the Texas Relays. Sophomore Janae De Gannes was the bronze medalist in the long jump section A, going 20 feet, 5 ¼ inches on her fourth attempt.
Just off her season best, junior Bella Copeland was third in the triple jump with a mark of 39-2 ¼, while Arkansas transfer Sebastian Berntsen had a pair of 24-foot jumps and placed eighth with a best of 24-2 ½.
Diggs and Bailey Hashmi both clipped off 10.31 times in the 100 mters, with Diggs placing third in the section B race.
Besides the 4x100 relay finals, highlights of Baylor's Day 4 schedule includes Kelley in an invitational 200 meters, Molly Haywood and Tenly Kuhn in an invitational pole vault, freshman Landon Freeman in the men's high jump and the closing Sanya Richards-Ross women's 4x400 and Cleburne Price men's 4x400 relay.
