Scott secures top 10 nod for nation’s top shooting guard
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Baylor women's basketball guard Taliah Scott has been named a midseason top‑10 candidate for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award recognizes the top shooting guards in women's college basketball each year.
Through 22 games as a Bear, Scott has totaled 444 points for an average of 20.2 per game with 54 made 3-pointers. The redshirt sophomore opened the season on a tear, scoring at least 20 points in her first seven games in the green and gold. It was the longest 20‑point streak to open the season in the nation and made her just the third player since 2000 to open a season with seven straight 20‑point games in her first year on a new roster.
Scott has collected numerous honors already this season, earning Big 12 Player of the Week twice while being named to the league's Starting Five on three other occasions. The USBWA also named her National Player of the Week twice.
The final five selections for the 2026 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be announced in March, but fan voting for the mid-season list opens Feb. 6 at hoophallawards.com. The fan vote counts as one vote in the final selection process.
The Bears continue their Big 12 slate against Cincinnati in the Queen City on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN+ and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
